Two-element numbers in physics and background independence
Written by Mlakár Katalin
Key contexts I have not mentioned so far, the trivial relationship of the special relativity modelled with two-element numbers to background independence. This mathematics, like Bolyai’s non-Euclidean geometry, describes the system “from within” and not in an already well-known system, against the background of the Descartes coordinate system. Abstract The various procedures for renormalization i.e. "abnormalization" in agreement with Feynman, suggest that current physics has serious problems with numbers, especially zero and infinity. This problem can be solved by the discovery of the relationship between two-element numbers – complex, parabolic (dual), hyperbolic numbers – with a so-called quality infinity.
